The Information Technology Department is established with vision of “To be graduate school of choice for education in the division of Information Technology, serve as a valuable resource for IT industry and society and support to advance research”.The Department has got Two years Accreditation by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) in Academic year 2013-14.Department is promising student by offering high quality education in IT filed to lead successful their career in Industries and Research.The Information Technology Department has done commendable progress in a short span of past few years.We proud to say, in last two academic years 11 students of department got rank in Shivaji University Merit List including gold medalist. Some of the students of the department are pursuing their higher studies (MS and PhD) in Information Technology at prestigious places like Texas University & Toronto University.The renowned IT firms have recruited our students through campus interviews.

In the year 2010-11 the Department has got TCS accreditation which in turn has opened ample opportunities for fruitful collaborations with industries. The department has started CSI Student Chapter to motivate professional growth of the students. The department has started Student Association ELITE under which different technical and non technical events are conducted for students overall development. The department has signed MoU with Semat Excellence Centre for developing of Android Lab where students getting kind support from industrial experts for their mobile development projects along with this department has signed MoU and became “Workforce Development Program” Partner with Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. under this MoU student can appear for International Certification programs at RIT itself. The Department has also signed MOU's with TCS, Persistent, Infosys Ltd. bangalore and Pranav Systtech Pvt. Ltd. Pune as a step of mutual benefit.

Mission Statement

The mission of B. Tech IT program is to offer high quality education through industry oriented curriculum, innovative teaching and learning practices, contemporary infrastructure, exposure to professional practice and research training to produce well-grounded graduates with lifelong learning abilities.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

After 3-5 years of graduation, the student will be able to:

  • Procure gainful employment and practice successfully in the IT profession
  • Demonstrate independent thinking, professionalism and function effectively in team-orientated and open-ended activities in industry, business and society
  • Be updated with and adapt to, rapidly changing IT technologies through continuous learning leading to self-improvement.

Program Outcomes (POs) Curriculum: 2011-15 to 2014-18

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and IT engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics and engineering sciences.
  • Conduct investigations of problems: Use fundamental knowledge and engineering skills including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design and develop IT solutions using domain knowledge for engineering problems that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Communicate information efficiently, reliably & securely using computer networks.
  • Environment and sustainability and higher studies: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, need for sustainable development and be able to opt for higher studies and complete professional certifications.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
