Minor & Honor Certification

Looking to Global Scenario, Engineering students should have knowledge of subjects from other branches and some advanced subjects of their respective branch in which they are perusing the degree. Regarding the same RIT has decided to take an initiative in academics from year 2018-19. Minor and Honor Scheme is introduced in academics. Where aspiring student must register for additional Four THEORY courses and acquire additional maximum 15 credits (3 credits/course) for any ONE of the Schemes (either Minor or Honors).

 As per this scheme students will get minor and honor degree along with Degree (Major) which they are perusing.

Detailed rules and regulations of this scheme are given below.

Sr. No. Academic Scheme Description
01 Minor Degree Students can select subjects from other branches. e.g. If Mechanical Engineering student selects subjects from Civil Engineering under this scheme, he/she will get Major degree of Mechanical Engineering with minor degree of Civil Engineering.
02 Honor Degree Students can select advanced subjects from their respective branch in which they are perusing the degree. e.g. If Mechanical Engineering student selects advanced subjects from same branch under this scheme, he/she will get Major degree along with Honor degree of Mechanical Engineering.

Minor Certification Scheme:

  • Students can select subjects from other branches. E.g. If Mechanical Engineering student selects subjects from Civil Engineering under this scheme, he/she will get Major degree of Mechanical Engineering with minor degree of Civil Engineering.
  • Student from ANY department is ELIGIBLE to apply for Minor from ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT.
  • Student can select one subject per semester from the list of subjects of a branch of which he or she want to peruse minor degree.
  • All courses are Online courses from platforms like NPTEL/ edX/ Coursera/ Udacity/ Purdue Next/ Khan Academy/ QEEE etc.
  • The Scheme will be started from 4th Semester of UG program.

Honor Certification Scheme:

  • Students can select advanced subjects from their respective branch in which they are perusing the degree. e.g. If Mechanical Engineering student selects advanced subjects from same branch under this scheme, he/she will get Major degree along with Honor degree of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Students from same department are eligible for Honor degree.
  • Student can select one subject per semester from the list of Honor courses of a branch in which they are perusing the degree.
  • All courses are Online courses from platforms like NPTEL/ edX/ Coursera/ Udacity/ Purdue Next/ Khan Academy/ QEEE etc.
  • The Scheme will be started from 4thSemester of UG program.
