The Structure and Significance of Mentoring System
RIT’s mentoring system is thoughtfully designed to provide students with holistic support, encouraging their personal development, academic success, and career preparedness. It focuses on building strong connections through consistent engagement, personalized guidance, and teamwork with academic leaders and counselors. Through regular monitoring, resource sharing, and the creation of a supportive network, the mentoring system ensures each student receives the attention and assistance needed to thrive.

1. Frequency of the Meetings: A minimum of five mentor-mentee meetings per semester are organized to maintain consistency. Weekly meeting is planned and fix slot is given in the timetable of the class. Location of the meeting is mutually decided based on the convenience of both the mentor and mentees. It is advisable to keep the schedule consistent for all meetings throughout the academic year.
2. Involvement of Class-monitors and Head of Department: Involving class-monitors and department heads can add accountability to the mentoring system. They can provide feedback on the effectiveness of the program and help address any issues that arise.
3. Central Monitoring by Head of the Counseling: Having a centralized oversight by the Head of the Counseling ensures that the program maintains its quality and alignment with the overall counseling and developmental goals of the institution. Mentors and class-monitors have distinct yet well-defined roles, and they should exchange student information as needed to ensure effective support and guidance.
4. Diverse Mentoring Points Based on Student Choice: Offering a variety of mentoring points based on student preferences allows for a more personalized approach. This can include English language improvement, public speaking skills, aptitude development, and more.
5. Individual Student Activity Tracking: Keeping track of each student's progress and activities helps mentors tailor their guidance and support. It also provides a record of growth and development over time.
6. Minimum Personal Interactions per Student per Month: Setting a minimum number of interactions ensures active engagement between mentors and mentees. It encourages regular dialogue and helps achieve consistent progress.
