Propulsion is one of the most important and fundamental parts of rockets. It helps the rocket to reach the desired apogee by fighting against gravity using the simple conservation of momentum principle. In the space club, RIT motor subsystem works on the design, development, and production of solid rocket motors.
Avionics are the electrical systems necessary for flight and are driven by software to tell the rocket where it should go, and how it should pivot the engines to keep on the right trajectory. To achieve this, in our club we use different microcontrollars like aurduino, pic microcontrollar with sensores like bmp,mup6050
The structure subsystem of rocket includes all parts which make up the frame of rocket, nose cone and control fins. The function of structure subsystem is to provide low aerodynamic drag for flight through atmosphere. In flight, a rocket is subjected to four forces; weight, thrust, and the aerodynamic forces, lift and drag.
Ignition system in model rocketry is system used to ignite the rocket motor to uplift the rocket. It comes under the power subsystem. Power subsystem plays a vital role in providing the power assist to communication and on-board computer subsystem. It includes power management and its calculation.
A major goal in model rocketry is to safely retrieve a rocket after it has been launched. A recovery system is defined as “any device that is incorporated into the model rocket to return it safely to the ground” . One of the biggest challenges of flying model rockets is trying to successfully recover the rocket.
